This week I'm posting my final term project for my Creative Fashion Presentations class! We created a video for Beacon's Closet, a thrift store in Brooklyn and Manhattan!!

Tell me what you think below!!

Overall, this class has been my favorite at FIT. I really like the hands on approach that was the basis for this class. It's been really fun to create and present all the different kinds of projects, and it's been really interesting to learn about different ways to present material.

Hello followers! This week I'm going to be discussing Video Lookbooks! A lookbook is a printed showcase of still images of a fashion designer or fashion brand's collection with pages bound along one side. A video lookbook is just the same but in a video form. Creating a video to display all garments gives complete freedom to the designer to create a mood and image from the video. The video I focused on for this weeks blog is by the Designer Penelope & Coco.

Penelope & Coco was created by the designer Marisa Spinella to intertwine her two alter egos: Penelope and Coco. Penelope is dainty, classic, and a vintage lover while Coco is bold, complicated, and risque. Through these alter egos, Spinella created a brand that combines both classic with boldness. Her video lookbook is for her Fall 2011 shoe collection and can be viewed below!

I love the way that the whole screen is cut in two, just like she is cut in two by her alter ego. I also like the way that her video is short and sweet. It makes you want to learn more about her collection and what she has to offer. It showcases the shoes just enough to get the customer interested, but not too much to were they might get bored with it. Here are some of the shoes displayed in the video from her collection:
Edie $482.00

Willow $484.00

Grace $495.00

Trunk Shows!

This week I'm going to discussing the wonderful world of trunk shows! In specific the bridal dress designer Lazaro.

For those of you that don't know, A trunk show is a special sale in which vendors present merchandise directly to sore personnel or select customers at a retail location or another unique venue. In many cases it allows store personnel to preview and/or purchase merchandise before it is made available to the public.

Lazaro Perez, known as Lazaro, is a cuban born New York designer that currently has his collection carried by the wedding boutique Kleinfeld. His trunk show will be help on November 11-13th. His collection consists of contemporary-classic gowns that are timeless and elegant. He designs to fit every bride and has an array and different styles ranging from slender to ball gown.

Lazaro is one of my favorite bridal desingners. His gowns are not only gorgeous, but they are different than many other gowns you see today. He focuses on the little details that make every women feel beautiful. His gowns are also not plain. They are not for the traditional bride. He also takes a lot of care in the silhouettes of his gowns to unsure that any women of any size can look amazing.

Lazaro is one of the many designers that Kleinfeld carries. If you are interested in his collection you can check it out here

Blog #7

Hello followers! For this weeks blog I got to pick a video I liked! I know there are millions upon millions of video on youtube, but I found one that I really liked. It's called Shade Parade and it's Chanel's advertisement for their Le Vernis Fall 2011 nail collection. This video is below! Take a look!!

I loved this video because it's a fun and creative way to advertise nail polish. Usually you get the basic commercials displaying the nail polish on the hand, but using the fingers as feet was genious. I love the feeling of the cabaret, and the colors match the theme perfectly. I think this is a great way to take a boring advertisement and jazz it up! The nail colors used are:

Black Pearl

Dragon

Inattendu

Orange Fizz

Particuliere

Other Chanel polishes shown in this video are:
455 Red Lotus
487 Rouge Fatal
18 Rouge Nior
511 Pearl Drop
515 Pèche Nacrée
493 Jade Rose
507 Tendresse
219 Black Satin
 461 Blue Satin
519 Rose Exhuberant
489 Rose Insolent
557 Morning Rose

All these nail polishes can be found here: Chanel Makeup.

They generally range from 25-29 dollars each. Although pricey, they are an amazing investment. You really get great quality for the price. I personally have a few older colors and I love them. They last long, and the colors are wonderful!

2013 S/S Color Forcaste-- Post #6

2013 Spring & Summer Color Forecast

Although it might be Fall, forecasters have been busy forecasting the new color trends for the Spring and Summer of 2012. Below are some images and color pallets that the specialists at StyleSite put together. I especially love how bright the pallet is for Spring and Summer. The yellows and blues especially stood out among the different colors. I also like the different combination of colors like orange and greens. With this many selections, Spring/Summer 2013 is going to h.o.t.

I love how the blue "pops" in this look. From the makeup to the hair, this electric blue is going to be a perfect way to make an outfit stand out.

This color selection reminds me of chinese cherry blossoms. With its combination of subtle and bright colors, these peaches, pinks, teals and purples will look lovely together.

For a more natural sophisticated look go with charcoals, tans, muted oranges, light browns and blacks.

This color combo is definitely smokey. It evokes that firey feel to it.

By combining pale tans with pops of purple, yellow and blue, you can make an item stand out on a rather boring canvas.

I love these colors. I think the orange greens are a perfect compliment for each other. For me, I get the feel of a tiger prowling through bamboo. It almost has a tropical feel to it. These colors are a perfect way to stand out from the crowd.

I love mint. I think it's an awesome, soft color that anyone can pull off. The combo of mint and the grays, blues, and salmon pink are amazing.

These colors screem city. With the array of blues ranging from navy to a washed out color and the bright red, these colors are going to be perfect for everyday.

Post #6 - NYC Street Style

This fall people are amping up their style to the max. These are a few of my favorite styles seen on the street of good ol' NYC. Enjoy!

I love this look. I love how she is wearing the camel color coat with the fur vest over. Layering is huge this fall! HIs outfit is perfection. the formal neck tie blazer matched with skinny jeans and combat boots make it an everyday look. Men, this is a perfect way to stay fashionable and bear the chill of the fall!

This women opted for a played down look matching a black trench with leggings, brown boots and a fedora. Fedoras were huge in the summer time so why not bring them into fall?!

This girl is bringing back animal print! With a chunky animal print sweater (look so comfortable!) paired with a belt to keep her shape, black pants and over the knee boots, a head wrap, chunky scarf and big sunglasses she is ready for a day of bike riding in central park. I would totally wear this outfit. I don't know which is better...the comfort factor or the style!!

This girl has fully grasped the sportswear look that was oh so popular on the runway this past fashion week. With her muted colors she perfectly matches a sweater with sweatshirt, leggings, and combat boots. to finish off the look she carries a shoulder bag and round sunglasses.

Overall chunky knits, layering, combat boots, bright pops colors (This is NYC so don't go crazy), and comfort are what I saw most on the streets. For me personally I like to add fall colors to my outfits this time of the year (deep reds, olive greens, mustard yellows) and I like to spice up my outfits with glamourous jewelry!

Key Item for Fall 2011

With Fall here overnight everyone has packed away their summer clothing and unpacked their fall/winter! Here are some of my favorite fall trends that I will be wearing this season!

The Cape Coat

H&M

Left to right: DKNY, Rag & Bone, Band of Outsiders, Edun.

This trend is a super cute option for a fall jacket. With an array of different colors you can express your personal style while still looking chic and put together! Not only are these super cute, they are also very comfortable!!

Matte Nails

On your nails try a matte color for fall! It's a different texture from normal gloss nails polishes. Also try some darker colors for fall. This OPI collection is perfect with its deep purples and mauves!!

Inverted Crease Makeup

For Fall, change up your daily makeup look to an inverted crease! This look is so easy to accomplish and looks great on every eye shape. This look also will make your eyes look bigger! Kim K. is one person that is known for the inverted crease!! The colors i suggest are warm/neutral tones with an earthy feel. The collection I have below is MAC's Warm Smokey Eye Shadow Palette!

Braids

Braids are continuing to be a huge hair trend going on right now. From a low back braid to a french braid, everyone is wearing them. Try to spice up your braid a little be trying a 5 strand braid or a Slide up braid!! Links for tutorials below!!
